The career paths within an investment bank usually follow a similar structure regardless of the banking division. In terms of seniority, an employee at an investment bank will usually rise through the following levels:

     Analyst
     Associate
     Vice President (VP)
     Senior Vice President (SVP)
     Managing Director (MD)

Following the MD level, additional roles exist such as division heads (e.g., Head of Sales and Trading) and chief officers (e.g., Chief Executive Office (CEO)).
